We all slept well and were in no rush to get off the ship. I did tell the kids though that on port days they needed to fill up at breakfast time as it seems pointless buying food on shore when there's a whole ship full of it for free. They really took this to heart and had about 3 breakfasts so hopefully there won't be any hanger episodes later on.

Unlike my usually meticulous planned holidays I haven't planned anything for this trip which really isn't like me so I think they're will be a lot of winging it. We're in luck with this stop as the Cite de la mer museum couldn't be any closer to the port and has 3 sections, a titanic exhibition, submarine and an aquarium. Despite living in and near Southampton we've never visited the titanic museum locally so my only real knowledge of the event comes from the Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio movie! The reason there's an exhibition here is that after the ship left Southampton it made 2 more stops before crossing the Atlantic and one of those was Cherbourg. We got to see a timeline of events from hitting the iceberg to the sinking of the ship, saw recreations of the different classes of rooms and then there were various artifacts that had been recovered from the wreck (mostly crockery).

Next up was the giant decommissioned submarine (Le Redoutable) where an audio tour talked us through the various sections as we walked around looking at the weapons, control rooms, bedrooms, kitchens and more.

Finally we visited the aquarium this was a mix of a museum with interesting facts about the sea and then a collection of fish and coral. At the end of the visit there was a small bouncy castle, personally I can't think of anything worse in the heat but it didn't stop our two.

The benefit of being next door to the ship was that we didn't have long to wait for lunch then the kids were begging us to drop them off at kids club, fine by us, there's still that growing list of cocktails that need to be tested.

To say this holiday is so far very relaxing compared to our usual meticulously planned trips we are finding ourselves running out of time, turns out relaxing is not as easy as it seems. By the time the kids are out of the club they then also want to fit in some pool time. Now I'm not sure what Liliya did but we had to make a quick exit after 30 mins when she somehow ended up with a huge rip in her bikini bottoms 😬

After a quick freshen up (and trying out the fake hair as I had no time to style my own) we all went out for another posh meal after which Robert was really keen to go 'partying' so I took him with me to see the comedian then the venue turned into a club.

It's not actually the clubbing demographic so there's only about 12 of us in the place and even fewer that are actually dancing so we got friendly with DJ Stash and he played some dance tunes rather than the 80s cheese I think he usually takes requests for.

Robert now had a mini fan club and a few of the ladies loved having a dance with him. Around midnight however we had 'security' tell us that under 18s have to leave the venue at 11pm. Turns out no one was really bothered or wanted him to leave but the manager would be doing the rounds soon and they would be in trouble if he was found in the area. Oh well, we said our goodbyes took a bow and danced our way off to bed.
