With the virtual queue system opening up at 9.45am and 2pm we want to maximise our chances to see some characters so this morning we are on a mission. You can't join the virtual queue until you're checked into the park and at 9.47 we're successfully in the queue to meet a marvel character. There's a few rides we're yet to try, some shows to see and our favourites to try go on again. The second mortgage we took out yesterday to buy the kids shoulder buddies and of course Liliya doesn't want to bring hers because surprise surprise it's a hassle, especially in this heat. At least one of them is still enjoying it.
We decided to head straight for web slingers as although we did it yesterday it was as single riders so we wanted to all go on together today.
Luck is with us again and as we finish the ride there's a group of people gathering. Of course we join in even though we have no idea why. I use my best French to ask the family next to us and they think Wakanda will come and do a dance. They also bring my kids to the front to sit in front of them. I hear so many people moaning in forums about how rude people at Disney can be but so far we've only experienced kindness.
The adrenaline junkies want more avengers assemble so we head over and this time we decide to do an opposite picture where Liliya is pulling the funny face and we're all smiling. Result it works!
As we're coming out there's another gathering so we get ourselves a front row. Turns out it's Wakanda again, oh well the kids enjoyed the 5 min sit down and getting to munch on some veggies.
We're now heading over to try see the Alice and queen of hearts show that was cancelled yesterday. Whilst in the queue we getting talking to the family behind us who were Canadian / Americans but have actually lived in Kazakhstan for the last 8 years. The kids immediately make new best friends and sit together for the show. Definitely one to watch it's a mix of dancing, singing, trampolining and bike stunts. Afterwards Robert and his new friend who of course he doesn't know his name swap details so they can play Minecraft together when they get back.
It's just time for us to meet an Avenger now, Robert is hoping for Black Panther or Thor. Liliya wants Captain Marvel and Al and myself are on team Thor as well.
We get Black Widow so Liliya is happy it's a girl superhero as she didn't really know who Captain Marvel was anyway. She was really good with the kids, asked lots of questions and super engaging.
Next it was time for our picnic whilst we planned out the rest of the day. We went on the cars rally then over to see stitch live.
Stitch live was a semi interactive show and Robert got chosen by Stitch for his best monkey impression. The kids really want to do a meet and greet with him (as he's just in a video screen in this) but this time my fingers were just not fast enough so we get Olaf instead. The kids are still happy with that but it does mean we need to walk over to Magic Kingdom for some rides we've not done, back over to Studios then back to Magic Kingdom again later. Oh well last day and all that they can rest tomorrow.
Back over at Magic Kingdom we have a walk around Sleeping Beauty's castle then follow up with Pinocchio and Snow White rides. The queues for everything are pretty brutal right now and young kids plus extreme heat are causing all sorts of tantrums and meltdowns (thankfully my two are entertaining themselves with search and find books).
Poor Liliya got smacked in the face getting on to snow white ride as the gates opened then closed immediately as she started walking through. After we got off the ride the lady was waiting for us to check she was OK and suggesting we go to first aid. She clearly went to the same school as my kids, the slightest scratch and it's a visit along with perhaps a phone call or an orange note sent home with them!
It's now time to go meet Olaf so back over to Hollywood studios for a cuddle with him.
Afterwards they are keen to do the Tower of terror again since the queue is short. Once on the ride a kid starts screaming and crying hysterically, shouting in French that he wants to leave. That sets off another kid so the ride attendant has to open up the barrier to get them off. The first kid, well his dad just tells him to wait outside by himself and he stays on, at least with the other girl her mum leaves as well. We're finally ready to go and although we told everyone to look at the camera this time Liliya couldn't help but hug on to Al despite loving the ride.
We ask the kids if they want to go out of the park to Disney village and find somewhere nice to eat, turns out not they would prefer to spend the time on rides, woohoo we've trained you well children. We compromise by finding somewhere indoors with seating and air conditioning so it's off to stark kitchen for pizza and pasta.
Tummies full once again they choose to go back on their favourite ride, the Avengers flight as its only a 5 min wait time. We've decided at some point we just need to queue for Crush's coaster but as we walk past the Web shooter ride it's only a 5 min wait in the single rider line so the boys do that whilst Liliya and I go back to the avengers flight for the fifth time where she wants to pretend we're asleep for the picture. As luck would have it we were both finished at the same time and the boys even got to go on the ride together.
It's time to suck it up and prepare for our longest queue so far, can't complain too much, we've managed quite a lot of rides under 30 min wait times. It takes an hour to get on the ride and Liliya and Robert want to ride it together as they have done with lots of rides this trip which is really sweet. Funny thing is even though we're sat right behind them they are only allowed together if Liliya is 7 so she's been trained to tell a white lie when asked (and she's asked a lot!) The kids agree the ride was worth the wait and it's a shame the queues haven't been shorter as it would be good to go again but we're not waiting another hour.
We head back over to the other park and both kids want to go back on Star Tours, we're all flagging and looking forward to bed, a combination of achy feet, backs, legs, sweaty we don't look a pretty sight but the kids are adamant they don't want to leave until the rides close. Next it's Liliya's turn to choose and as we haven't been on the carousel we give that a turn after which fantasy land is closed ready for the fireworks so we had over to frontier land.
Robert gets the next choice and he chooses phantom manor which at this time doesn't have any queues. By the time we're done it's 10pm and we're ending on big thunder mountain, the queue states its a 35 min wait which means given they close the queue at 10.40 there's a slim chance if we run at the end of the ride we can have one final go. I don't know why I even suggest this to the kids as we are all so broken but at the same time we can't really ache any more than we already are. We just make it with two minutes to go and we're back on with no wait, the kids have gone into crazed over excited mode so I'm just hoping this surge of energy lasts until we've walked back to the moho.
The ride is the perfect end to a great trip, whilst we're rushing round screaming and waving our arms we get to see part of the drone show over the castle. We get our last two pictures added to the account, you give a Yorkshire lass an unlimited photo pass and she's going to make the most of it, 61 photos in all! Back at the van the kids are asleep in seconds, with no hot tub in sight to ease my aching muscles I'll have to make do with a portable sink full of cold water to try and cool my sore feet.
When I asked the kids what their best bits had been they really couldn't decide, so I'm calling that a huge success. We walked 67,480 steps over 3 days, rode all rides except 3 (some multiple times), watched 7 shows and met 11 characters. We've now got just 17 days to get organised and back this side of the water.
