Prague & Lednice

Finally we got to eat breakfast al fresco, it's not sunny but it's dry at least and I'm running out of trousers so today I have to move to shorts (so of course it starts raining later on!)

The kids are loving breakfast because we bought pastries last night as a treat since Al and I are celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary 😍. Al forgot to bring my card so ended up getting one very last minute in Prague. We've used Google translate but think you need local knowledge to really understand the message, so if anyone knows Czech do let me know.

Back on the boat then the tram, the public transport here is brilliant and so cheap! £4 for 24hrs and kids up to 16 are free. The kids love all the different modes of transport too.

Our first stop was to the lego museum, the museum is one of five in Czechia that form the largest private collection in the world. We're all big lego fans (and have a room dedicated to Lego back home), so it was interesting to see the kits from the 80s/90s which we also own (the Italian restaurant I have was selling for £350!). They also had an amazing model of the Charles Bridge that was 5m long.

Next we headed to the butterfly exhibition but en route we passed a charity raising money for disabled people by donating to paint a brick so we made our mark and the kids had fun.

They say its always margarita time somewhere well it's here and now for me!!

Yesterday we came across a dessert that translates to chimney cake but we were too full so decided to try one today. It's tricky to describe but it's a sweet pastry twisted and cooked over an open fire (bit like a kebab), coated in sugar then various fillings are added. We opted for vanilla custard with strawberries and whipped cream. Wow, these need to be on anyone's list when in Prague. It was quite a shame to have to split it three ways.

The butterfly house was inside Hamleys toy store so we of course had to take several detours including a trip around the mirror maze before we made it.

Robert was very sad because no butterflies were landing on him but eventually they did.

After visiting the butterflies Robert really wanted to try bubble tea so we took him to order one. Turns out the idea was better than the taste for him. He loved the mango bubbles but not the mango green tea they were in.

Liliya really wanted a treat now so a trip to a shop for the usual chocolate ice cream was next and it just happened to be next door to a chimney cake shop and since I had only had a few bites of the first I decided I would get another.

Well it turns out not all chimney cakes are created equally so beware. The first had so much vanilla it was oozing out the bottom. This barely had any 😭.

Of course as I mentioned previously, the day I come out without a coat or hoodie is the day it starts raining. As we'd ticked off all the major things from our list we decide to head off to our next stop. It's Bratislava tomorrow so I assumed we'd be staying in Slovakia but actually we're still in Czechia staying at a local vineyard in Lednice.

Despite not drinking wine I felt it was necessary to buy a bottle. I mentioned to the server that I've got a very sweet tooth so he recommended the sweetest they have, apart from the dessert wine. It's no mojito but it was double the price of Al's red and only just cheaper than the cost of the campsite for the night.

We didn't know what time we'd arrive so didn't make food plans but the shop suggested a restaurant worthy of celebrating our special day. Restaurant U Tlustých, and it was a short 15 min walk away.

For a random Wednesday night the place was heaving, so much so we couldn't get an outdoor table. They make their own smoked meats on site so we started with a plate of that which was lush then I had the duck breast and Al had the burger. It's been a lovely day and now we're completing the celebrations with our wine in our classy metal camping mugs 😘
